PENGUICON 2020 Has been Canceled.
Penguicon Family,
It is bittersweet news we bring to you today. As you know we have diligently kept our eyes on the situation surrounding COVID-19 and evaluating what we should do in the best interest of our community, our organization, and the community at large.
It is with both sadness, but also with hope, that I am able to announce that the Westin has offered to move our contract to April 2021. This means that Penguicon 2020 has officially been cancelled.
All hotel rooms will be automatically cancelled. There is no need to email anyone. If you happen to get an email about your reservation close to the date of the event please email hotel@penguicon.org with your reservation number so we can check to make sure it was canceled.
There are a lot of decisions that need to be made as this has never happened in the history of Penguicon. The board is meeting on Sunday, March 29, 2020 in a closed meeting to discuss next steps. We will update on tickets, refunds, virtual programming for this year, and all other decisions soon after.
If you want to know how you can help email board@penguicon.org
We thank you for your patience as we worked to find the best solutions for Penguicon 2020 and our community.
Until further updates,
The Penguicon Board of Directors

Greetings Penguicon!
We're excited you've joined us. We have a few items to share with you on this page, so read further for more information on our Code of Conduct, how to vote for Room Parties or your favorite Makers in our Maker Market, as well as little more about Penguicon itself!
The Penguicon Programming Team recognizes that for our community members to be engaged, they must feel valued and included. At its core, Penguicon is devoted to providing high quality programming to our diverse community.
Recognizing that diversity and inclusion is a constant work in progress, we acknowledge that there can be no reliance on past efforts if our goals are to be achieved. An ever evolving community means that we must be ever evolving in our efforts to ensure that the interests and needs of our community are reflected in our programming offerings. Our goal is to provide a Programming culture where all community members feel they belong, are welcomed to enjoy and participate in, and reflect the bright, diverse nature of Penguicon as a whole.
How to Penguicon: A Primer
Welcome! We’re SO GLAD you’re here. Seriously. And we’d like to introduce ourselves. We are Penguicon. We are not a comic con, a gaming convention, a Tech convention, or a sci-fi/fantasy convention. And yet, we are also all of these things! We are a collection of people who are geeks about everything that you can possibly be a geek about. If you really enjoy something, you’ll find others here who love it too. We are also 100% volunteer-run, and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Here are some things you should know about us!
ANTI-HARASSMENT AND CONSENT Let’s get this out here right off, as it is VERY important to us.
Penguicon is committed to fostering an environment of comfort and safety for everyone. Attendees should refrain from actions that would limit, or threaten to limit, the safe enjoyment of the convention by another person.
We will not tolerate any form of harassment of convention participants, specifically in the form of gender, sexuality, relationship status, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, national origin, or religious discrimination.
Con participants found to be engaging in harassment may be expelled from the con without refund.
If you are being harassed or witness harassment, and you need help, go to the Operations desk or find a ConCom, Board, or staff member to assist you.
Please read our full Code of Conduct in the Souvenir Book for more information.
ASK FIRST! If the answer is not a clear, distinct “YES” (verbal or otherwise), then do NOT touch, photograph, hug, grab, take video of, etc. This applies to everyone, including cosplayers.
GUESTS
We don’t have “celebrities” here. We have Guests of Honor. What is a GoH? A GoH is a fellow geek who is exceptional at something! Most of them aren’t “mainstream famous,” but within their own communities, they are legend.
Our GoHs don’t come for the paid autographs. They aren’t even paid to be here. They come because they love to share what they know and be a part of our community.
CONSUITE
ConSuite (located on the 2nd floor) provides snacks, drinks, and the occasional light foods at times. It is NOT meant to feed you meals for the entire weekend. If you count on eating nothing but ConSuite food, you will die!
Beer from ConSuite stays in ConSuite.
We might (and probably will) run out of food from time to time. Please be patient with us.
We have a selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options, and are allergy-conscious.
EVENTS
All events are free to attend with your Penguicon badge.
For events with “Capacity Limit: XX” included in the description, you need go to the event to secure your place before the event starts. Seats/Spaces may not be reserved. 2020 has no signup sheets.
PARTIES
Penguicon’s nightlife is legend! We have three floors of privately-hosted room parties on both Friday and Saturday night (floors 3-5), as well as Penguicon’s Geeky Burlesque on Friday night.
All the room parties are open to all con attendees and have free entry AND free drinks. Just remember to bring your ID with you, and maybe some cash for the tip jar.
