Twitter made a vague announcement of funding research, into either making their platform compatible with decentralized protocols such as ActivityPub, or creating a new protocol. Can we take this seriously at all? Christopher Lemmer Webber is one of the authors of the ActivityPub standard. Matt Arnold is the admin of Penguicon's Mastodon instance penguicon.social, which runs on ActivityPub. Past Tech GoH Michael Lucas and Craig Maloney have lengthy experience posting on the Fediverse. Might we be able to forward our Mastodon posts to Twitter soon? And would that have a negative effect on the distributed Fediverse where we fled to escape Twitter?

Virtual Presentations are not Officially Hosted Penguicon Events and are added to the Penguicon Sched App as a courtesy to our virtual attendees. While Virtual Presentations/Events are not official hosted by Penguicon, the Penguicon Code of Conduct does still apply. Penguicon 2020 is not responsible for last minute Virtual Presentations/Events Cancellations or location changes.
