A brief lecture touching on LGBTQ experiences throughout American history, the struggle for equal rights, and dissenting voices that have critiqued what the LGBTQ community should fight for at different times in its history. While the common narrative around LGBTQ history centers Stonewall and the political career of Harvey Milk, this lecture will seek to dig deeper, and explore topics many even within the LGBTQ community may be unaware of, including the Compton Cafeteria Riots, the Lavender Scare, and the political campaign of Ann Arbor Human Rights Socialist Kathy Kozachenko.
